Abstract

Corporate social and environmental responsibility practices are evolving from a philanthropy-based approach of using corporate resources to generate sustainable social and environmental value. This article analyzes CSR practices through the "Bercerita Dalam Hening" (Storytelling in Silence) program implemented by PT Indonesia Power UBP Banten 3 Lontar to support the deaf community associated with NOSATA in Tangerang Regency. The study employs a qualitative case study approach to identify how corporate resources are mobilized and converted into social, economic, and environmental benefits for the community. The findings indicate that the CSR intervention focuses not only on enhancing batik-making skills and strengthening market access but also on leveraging corporate assets and resources to foster environmental innovation. The use of fly ash and bottom ash (FABA) as filtration media in wastewater treatment plants, alongside power plant scrap materials for innovative batik drying equipment, demonstrates an integration of community needs and corporate capabilities. These practices generate social value by strengthening the community's avenues for expression, capacity, and independence, while also creating environmental value of adopting more eco-friendly batik production methods. The article shows that leveraging corporate resources can strategically integrate social inclusion with environmental value creation through CSR practices.
